Deane is a Past President of the Montgomery County Bar Association and the Montgomery County Bar Foundation. He is a former member of the Montgomery County Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission, has served on the Board of Governors of the Maryland State Bar Association, is Past President of the Rockville Jaycees, and is Past President of the Rockville Chamber of Commerce. He is a Fellow of the Montgomery County Bar Association, the Maryland Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He was recognized as one of the top attorneys in Maryland for 2008 and 2009 by Law & Politics and the Baltimore Magazine, and in the D.C. Metro Area in 2009 in the D. C. Magazine's Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers Section. He is a member of the National Registry of Who's Who, and was the founder and first President of the University of Maryland football support group, Maryland Gridiron Network. He has also tried cases in Colorado, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania and Virginia. He is admitted to the United States Supreme Court and has the highest rating, an AV rating, with Martindale Hubbell Law Directory.
