The recovery process has been long and ongoing…
On January 6th 2008 Josh was the driver of a Humvee that was hit by 2 EFP's, (explosively formed projectile), and sustained severe head trauma. He ended up losing his right eye, breaking almost all the bones in the face, and suffering a TBI, (traumatic brain injury). The recovery process has been long and ongoing since he was medevaced to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He spent a week in ICU and a month as an inpatient receiving treatment. Now he has daily appointments and surgeries every couple of months to try to help repair what he lost.
As a Wounded Warrior he continues to be optimistic about treatment, but he is unable to fully get back to "normal." He has endured much and would gladly go back to Iraq tomorrow to finish the job he so willfully signed up to do. Although he won't be able to return to Iraq as a soldier with the 3rd Infantry Division he does hope to finish out at Walter Reed and return to active duty status as a Drill Sergeant. The task to do so will not be easy, but he hopes to lead new soldiers in their mission to finish the job. In the land of the FREE and the home of the BRAVE.
