Leonard Goodson III has served in the U.S. military since 1988 and made significant contributions to his country, where he earned prestigious medals for his service, to include the Southwest Asia Medal and Humanitarian Medal. He serves as a Sergeant in the U.S. Armed Forces. He served as a Combat Medic during the Desert Storm Operation in Saudi Arabia, as well as Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

He presently serves on Active Duty, on medical hold, as a part of the wounded warrior transition (WTU) unit. He recently represented wounded warriors as one of the speakers for Warrior Beach Retreat, Inc. in Panama City Beach, FL.  At this event, he spoke of experiences and challenges that he faces as an injured soldier. He is currently recuperating from injuries sustained in Afghanistan.  He is a member of the Wounded Transition Unit and Wounded Warrior Project where he continues to serve his country and heal so that he may experience a successfully transition back into society. His future plans include retiring from active duty, going back to school to pursue a degree in communications and public health, and working fulltime at military organizations to continue his contributions to society.
