SSG. Johnathan Holsey - Age 33

I was assigned to 1/503 rd Infantry Regiment.  Part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team (2BCT) out of Camp Casey, Korea.  I deployed to Iraq from Korea in August 2004.

On Nov 10, 2004 , while on an convoy in Ramdi , Iraq my vehicle was hit by an IED.  There was a total of three personal in the vehicle but I was the only one seriously hurt by the blast.  I was flown to Germany and days later to Walter Reed Medical Center, in DC.  I arrived at WRAMC on 16 Nov 04 and had my left leg amputated below the knee on 24 Nov 04.

When I was a patient at WRAMC I remember Cindy coming into my room daily to check on me and to see how I was doing.  People like Cindy McGrew and her organization made my time at WRAMC much easier.  Thank you Cindy and Operation Second Chance for all you have and will continue to do for the soldiers of this great country.
